State Capitol
I wasn’t planning on doing much for Thanksgiving. Then 2 days prior to Thanksgiving my friend asked me to go to Austin, Texas. I’d never been to Texas so I didn’t need any convincing. We packed a lot into 3 days: went hiking in several different parks, went to the Oasis for breathtaking views, went to San Antonio for the day and saw the Holiday Lights Boat Parade at the River Walk, went to the State Capitol building, had real Texas BBQ, went to a couple of Missions, and took in a comedy/magic/singing show at Esther’s Follies. If you’re ever in Austin I totally recommend going to Esther’s Follies, it was hilarious and so well written. It wasn’t easy finding a restaurant that was open for Thanksgiving dinner, so we settled on a buffet. I also got to try the best doughnuts of my life (sorry Doughnut Plant!) at Gourdough’s, a doughnut truck. Beware: these doughnuts are super huge and if you try to eat one all to yourself you’ll be wishing your shared it with someone! We also checked out some live music at The Stage on 6th.
As usual, I took hundreds of photos, so I’ll do a few posts after this one so I can share all the best ones.
