The Basin
New Hampshire is a haven for photographers. My boyfriend & I were fortunate enough to be able to spend 3 nights there recently and we went crazy with the photo taking. The first two nights we spent in an adorable little cabin and the last night we tried to sleep in a tent. I say ‘tried’ as in the middle of the night we woke up to heavy rain which had seeped into the tent so we raced to the car, moved everything to the front and slept in the back. Not the most comfortable experience but I did get to toast some marshmallows over the fire, which strangely I had never done before growing up in New Zealand.
My boyfriend’s camera had a very near-miss when we visited a waterfall on the last day. Camera and tripod went flying in the air when he slipped on some rocks and somehow when it landed and skidded towards the edge, it stopped a mere inch from toppling over. It was like watching a train wreck….you see it happening before your eyes but there’s nothing you can do to stop it. I was petrified for the camera, but we got very lucky that day.
New Hampshire has quite a few diners and the quality of the food they serve definitely seems to be better than in New York. Probably because they can spend more time on each dish and are not rushed like in the city. The calm environment and the beautiful mountains and waterfalls reminded me of New Zealand a lot. I’ll definitely be back 🙂
