The second-to-last show I attended at New York Fashion week was Erickson Beamon. The models were posing as dolls, being pushed around scaffolding on a small cart by men in suits. The jewelry was awe-inspiring and so eye-catching you couldn’t help but want more than one piece. I especially liked their use of bright colors. Erickson Beamon was founded by Detroit natives Karen & Eric Erickson and Vicki Beamon. The jewelry company has been going for 27 years now and their pieces have been immortalized in the collections of London’s Victoria & Albert Museum and the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum, where the ‘Dollhouse’ chandelier earrings are permanently housed. They have created a diamante cage mask and a Spanish jet-encrusted lace mantilla for Lady Gaga, and Michelle Obama favors the floral broaches and pearl necklaces. Erickson Beamon’s other private clients include Madonna, Kate Moss, Angelina Jolie and Sarah Jessica Parker. Collaborations with design houses include Givenchy, Zac Posen, John Galliano and Donna Karan. Erickson Beamon’s jewelry has such variety, that anyone from the romantic, lady-like client, to the edgy, hardcore rocker can find something to treasure.
