Cold Spring
Last week I decided to get out of the city and searched online for ‘day trips from NYC without a car’. I randomly picked Cold Spring, which is just over an hour north of the city on the train. It was the perfect opportunity to spend a day shooting pictures and sampling new food. I highly recommend Cold Spring Pizza & Deli, I’ve had real Italian pizza thanks to my boyfriend’s mamma and this was the closest I’ve tried so far in the USA, with a crispy, flavorful base. For the inevitable late afternoon sweet craving, I went to Brasserie Le Bouchon and ordered the chocolate Grand Marnier mousse. It was fluffy, dark and delicious, with the Grand Marnier giving it that extra punch. After my stomach was satisfied, I spent the rest of the day exploring this beautiful village. Cold Spring is on the National Register of Historic Places as many of the buildings are from the 19th century. Little Stony Point was worth the hike to see the fantastic views and there’s even a small beach called Sandy Beach. Between all my picture-taking I managed to miss the train I planned to take home (they come every hour), so I went to Moo Moo’s Creamery and I’m so glad I did! If you’re ever in Cold Spring, you can’t miss this ice cream! With a tagline on their website that reads ‘The Worlds Best Homemade Ice Cream’ I couldn’t agree more. Since it’s made fresh every day, the ice cream is so creamy and so delicious it really is different from any ice cream you’ve had before. I had the mint chocolate chip and the chocolate almond coconut. Since the creamery is right near the Hudson river, sitting on a bench to eat my ice cream, watching the sailboats go by, was the perfect end to my day.
