The other week I explored the town of Red Hook in Brooklyn. I had only been there previously to go to IKEA and it’s a small mission to get to (I had to take 2 trains then a bus), but once you’re there, it makes for an interesting destination. There is also a ferry you can take from Manhattan, which I will do next time. Red Hook is situated on an industrial waterfront, which makes for stunning views of the southern tip of Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. It has a rugged urban beauty, with many warehouses now converted to artists lofts and 19th century Belgian-block roads. The main drag, Van Brunt Street, has a variety of restaurants, ‘mom and pop’ stores and a handful of galleries. It also has the bakery ‘Baked’ which I was very excited to finally visit.

Eclectic. Love the green cake. And the mosaic panel. Thanks for sharing.
