If you love key lime as much as I do, then you should definitely get one (or two!) of Dominique Ansel’s famous Cronuts this August. Filled with key lime ganache and dulce de leche ganache, this cronut is intense! This is literally a pairing of two of my favourite flavours ever, so I couldn’t miss…

Summer Offerings at Dominique Ansel Bakery
At my office, we always celebrate birthdays with a cake of that person’s choosing, and I usually bake it the night before to bring in the next day. This past Monday was my birthday, and since I’m the only one out of my colleagues who bakes, they let me choose a bakery to purchase a…
Chilly Penguin Religieuse
This adorable little penguin religieuse ($7) from Dominique Ansel is almost too cute to eat. But make sure you do, because he is divine! This little guy is all bundled up for winter with his earmuffs and scarf made of marshmallow. His eyes, beak and wings are crafted from white and dark chocolate. The choux pastry is filled with Mexican hot chocolate cream with a hint of chili.
Chocolate-Raspberry Croissant from Épicerie Boulud
Colored croissants are not as common in the US as they are in Europe. This beautiful, striking Chocolate-Raspberry Croissant ($4) from Daniel Boulud takes 3 days to make. It is unique in the fact that the layers are so precise, you could count them, and the outside is crunchy, with a sweet, buttery inside. But be fair warned: this croissant is not for the faint of heart. It is sinfully rich and decadent. The brains behind this candy-striped creation is Francois Brunet, who is in charge of the bread and viennoiserie at all of Boulud’s restaurants across the city.
Monsters from Las Delicias Patisserie
The Monster ($5.75) is described on the Las Delicias Patisserie website as the ‘perfect combination between a chocolate babka, a baker’s muffin and a melt-away cake in all its monstrous glory’. Being a huge fan of the chocolate babka, I was excited to try this interesting creation. Like nothing I’ve ever had before, the Monster was a…
Strawberry Float from Wild Wheat
You know Summer is on its way when the strawberries start making an appearance, and I couldn’t be happier! Strawberries have always been a favourite fruit of mine and strawberry shortcake is one of my favourite desserts. Wild Wheat is now offering the ‘Strawberry Float’ ($4), which consists of a handmade pastry case topped with chocolate,…
Rhubarb Galette
I had been wanting to try to make a galette for a while ever since I saw them at the farmers market, and finally bit the bullet when I went to my local fruit store and rhubarb was on sale. I adore rhubarb. Not everyone does as it’s a tart fruit but if you get…
Peach Pistachio Tart from Epicerie Boulud
Peaches and pistachios: the perfect marriage. Epicerie Boulud’s Peach Pistachio tart ($7) combines tartness, a hint of sweetness and nuttiness, creating a delicious tart that will brighten any day. It looks just as good as it tastes. The pastry is puffed and buttery and the peaches are poached, with the pistachios adding their unique flavor,…
Raspberry & Almond Croissant From Bouchon Bakery
I have eaten a lot of croissants in my life (I went through a stage of having one every morning for breakfast with Nutella), but the Raspberry & Almond croissant from Bouchon Bakery tops the list as my favorite. Let’s start with the pastry itself. While some croissants can be too dry, this one has…
