Sesame Tahini Cookies
Sesame Tahini Cookies are chewy and delicious, using tahini instead of butter for a rich, nutty flavour. The sesame flavour is further amped up with toasted sesame seeds.
If you’ve tried my Tahini Chocolate Chunk Cookies, then you’re going to love these Sesame Tahini Cookies. Tahini adds a wonderfully creamy, nutty flavour to the cookies, which balances well with the date syrup.
Mini Peach Upside Down Cakes
These Mini Peach Upside Down Cakes light and fluffy and are filled with pieces of fresh peaches. Each little cake is topped with peach slices for an elegant, yet easy dessert.
If you’re looking for a simple dessert to use up the last of your Summer peaches, this is it! I’ve made upside down peach cakes in the past, and I thought to myself, why not make mini ones using a muffin pan?! It worked like a treat (as long as your muffin pan is greased really well!) and the little cakes go so well with a scoop or two of your favourite ice cream or fresh whipped cream.
Blueberry Coconut Baked Oatmeal
If you’re in need of switching up your breakfast game, give this Blueberry Coconut Baked Oatmeal a go! It’s special while not being fussy, and can be mostly prepared the day before if desired.
I’ve always loved having oats in some form for my breakfast, whether they’re in porridge, granola or overnight oats. But baked oatmeal is a game changer! Packed with nuts, chia seeds and fruit, this breakfast will keep you going and give you lots of energy to go about your day.
I must admit, my first experience with baked oatmeal several years ago was not a good one! I found a recipe for strawberry rhubarb baked oatmeal and followed it exactly as written. Unfortunately, instead of the outside being delightfully toasted with a soft center, my baked oatmeal turned out to be a sloppy mess. There was way too much liquid and juice from the fruit, and I didn’t touch another baked oatmeal recipe for a long time after that! Fortunately, I decided to give it another go and got the consistency right.
Gingerbread Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting
This Gingerbread Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting is bursting with flavour thanks to the spices and molasses. It will make a delicious addition to your holiday spread.
I’ve loved gingerbread ever since I was a kid, devouring as many gingerbread men as I could before the season was over. I couldn’t wait to make it in cake form, to create a cake that’s fluffy, moist and full of spice.
Christmas Pinwheel Sugar Cookies
Christmas Pinwheel Sugar Cookies make an eye-catching and festive display to any Christmas table. A simple sugar cookie recipe is the base for these fun cookies. I got some clear bags and red ribbon to give these cookies out as early Christmas gifts to friends this past week.
Sometimes sugar cookies can be a bit bland, so I added some almond extract to make the flavour more interesting. The almond extract is subtle however, and doesn’t overpower the cookies. Fear not, if you don’t like almond flavors! It simply boosts the sugar cookies flavour, and will have you reaching for a second one. And if you really don’t want to use almond extract, just add another teaspoon of vanilla.
Browned Butter Pecan Cookies
I’m back in New Zealand for the next 2 months, which means I get to escape the dreaded New York winter for a little bit. I had told my Mum I was only coming back for November, but I surprised her at a family lunch with a card that revealed the secret. It was definitely…
Blue Majik Bowl
Agavi Organic Juice Bar now has 2 locations in Manhattan: the original in the East Village, and the newly opened location in Chelsea, at the Terminal Stores. After a scenic stroll along the Hudson River, I was in need of a pick-me-up, and Agavi Organic Juice Bar fit the bill.
Fresh Ingredients from Poke Bowl
If you’re looking for a fast, yet healthy meal, you should check out Poke Bowl. You can create your own bowl with a big array of toppings or choose a combination from the menu.
For the base I chose zoodles (zucchini noodles), topped with fresh salmon and spicy salmon, scallions, cucumber, red onion, edamame, mango, masago, crispy onion, rice puffs, mushrooms and spicy ponzu. I highly recommend the spicy ponzu when you’re choosing your sauce, it’s so tasty! Everything tasted so fresh and delicious, I really enjoyed my meal here.
August’s Cronut: Key Lime & Dulce De Leche
If you love key lime as much as I do, then you should definitely get one (or two!) of Dominique Ansel’s famous Cronuts this August. Filled with key lime ganache and dulce de leche ganache, this cronut is intense! This is literally a pairing of two of my favourite flavours ever, so I couldn’t miss…
