The sesame pancake sandwich with duck from Vanessa’s Dumpling House is amazing. Not only is the price a steal ($3) but the filling is generous and the bread is crispy like it should be. The vegetables consist of picked carrots and scallions and crisp julienned cucumber sticks. The bread is fluffy on the inside and has a nice crunch to the outside, with the top studded with sesame seeds.
I also ordered the pork and chive boiled dumplings, as you can’t really come to a dumpling house and not taste the dumplings, can you?! At 8 dumplings for $2.75 I struggled to finish them but they made the perfect accompaniment to the duck sandwich. The juicy pork combined with garlicky chives encased in homemade dumpling skin bursts with flavor in your mouth.
So, at a mere $$5.75 plus $1 for a drink for dinner, you can bet I’m already planning my next trip back to Vanessa’s.
