I’ve always loved bananas, but up until recently, I only liked eating them by themselves in their natural state. I wouldn’t touch a dessert that contained banana, but now I love them in desserts. I don’t know why the change, maybe I can put it down to getting older?! Anyway, I had read somewhere that Little & Friday does a Banana & Caramel doughnut ($5.50). I love doughnuts, but had never had a banana inside one (yes they put the banana inside, similar concept to a hotdog). Along with the caramel and banana, is a rich pastry cream. One bite of all this pillowy doughnut goodness and you’re not going to want to share. Seriously. Get another if you’re with someone else. My Mum chose to get the Rhubarb Tart, which of course I sampled, and it was divine, with just the right balance of tartness and sweetness. Now this tart is something special. The pastry is handmade and contains almond frangipane, creme patissiere & baked raspberries. The rhubarb is poached in orange juice and lays on a bed of fresh diplomat. Simply stunning, and mouthwatering. No wonder this place has a line stretching out the door on weekends.
