Yesterday I met with my friend who lives in Astoria and we wandered along 30th Avenue to see which restaurants looked good for brunch. We decided on The Shady Lady and got lucky with a table outside. If you’re anything like me, I get bored with all the standard brunch fare like eggs benedict. So when I saw the Brunchy Meatloaf Burger ($18 including a drink) on the menu, I was interested to try it. The meatloaf is a combination of beef, bacon and pork and it couldn’t have been tastier. The meatloaf is topped with a fried egg, ketchup demi and baby arugula, all on a Ciabatta bun. Accompanied by some of the best onion rings I’ve ever had (crispy and not greasy), this dish definitely impressed me and got my Saturday off to a fantastic start.
