If you want great comfort food with a modern and laid-back atmosphere then head to Delicatessen in SoHo. With items on the menu like mac & cheese, buttermilk fried chicken and spaghetti & meatballs, you’re sure to find something to satisfy your hunger. The head chef, Michael Ferraro incorporates both his Italian roots and his classical French training into his dishes to put a twist on international favorites. I chose the Friday special: swordfish with a butternut squash puree and a lobster sauce ($29). I am a huge fan of swordfish and this dish did not disappoint. The fish was grilled to perfection and the accompanying puree and lobster sauce displayed its flavor beautifully. I really liked the interior of the restaurant, with its stainless steel elements mixed with reclaimed wood and the glass garage doors that wrap around the entire facade. All in all, Delicatessen was a good choice for Friday date night (thanks Mike!), and I look forward to trying out their brunch menu one day.
