Dolce Gelateria in the West Village is now offering ‘Spaghetti Gelato’, a fun take on the standard gelato. Vanilla gelato is pushed through a potato press so that it resembles strands of spaghetti. As you can see in the picture above, the woman who served us was a little too heavy-handed with the sauce. You might miss the ‘spaghetti’ under all that color. There are two different sauces to choose from: the ‘marinara’ which is strawberry, blueberry and raspberry, and the ‘vodka’ sauce with mangoes and peaches (no alcohol). You also get a ‘meatball’ on your spaghetti, which is one of the 40 flavors of gelato that you can choose from. I went with the ferrero rocher and I’m so happy I did. The hazelnut flavor was off-the-charts good. The vanilla spaghetti paled in comparison to the Ferrero Rocher. For the sauce I chose the marinara, which was very fresh and not too sweet. Once the meatballs are on the plate, the dish is topped off with ‘cheese’; white chocolate shavings.
