Next time you’re at Clevedon Village Famers Market, make sure you grab a cupcake (or several) from Rockabilly Bakes. Owner Alyssa Sanders created Rockabilly Bakes when she moved to Auckland from Canada, and the company recently celebrated its first birthday. The cupcakes all have pin-up girl names, in keeping with the rockabilly theme.
We chose 3 different cupcakes: Miss Rizzo Rally (Snickers, pictured above), a rich Dutch chocolate cupcake, with salted caramel buttercream, salted caramel & chocolate drizzle, peanuts and a Snickers chunk.
Next was Miss Dolly Pop, a vanilla cupcake, with salted caramel buttercream, salted caramel drizzle & caramel corn.
The third choice was Miss Betty Mint, a rich Dutch chocolate cupcake, with a peppermint & chocolate swirl buttercream, topped with a piece of mint chocolate.
The cupcakes were all light & fluffy, and I didn’t find the toppings too sweet. They complemented the cupcakes nicely, and I was definitely impressed with them. I absolutely loved the Snickers one! I’m looking forward to trying other flavours next time I’m at the farmers market.
As well as being a regular at the Clevedon Village Farmers Market, Rockbilly Bakes also does special events, birthdays and weddings.
