I have eaten a lot of croissants in my life (I went through a stage of having one every morning for breakfast with Nutella), but the Raspberry & Almond croissant from Bouchon Bakery tops the list as my favorite. Let’s start with the pastry itself. While some croissants can be too dry, this one has that delicious crunch like it should, but is well-balanced with the soft interior. In my opinion, they got the ratio of crunch to softness just right. One end of the croissant is dipped in a raspberry powder which offers a very small amount of tartness and sliced almonds decorate the top of the croissant. Now let’s talk about the interior. This is what takes Bouchon’s croissant to a new level. First you are greeted with a delicious almond marzipan, then as you continue to devour this work of art, you reach the raspberry jam. Oh the jam! This and the marzipan marry so well together you’ll find yourself wanting a second croissant. At $4.25 this croissant is on the pricey side, but when it tastes this good it’s worth the extra dollars!
