Roast Pork/Pernil sandwich
The other day I was reading a list of the ‘Top 25 pork sandwiches in NYC’. The one that stuck in my mind was from Sophie’s Cuban Cuisine. By lunchtime I was ready to eat a horse, so I decided I had to try Sophie’s and see what the big deal was. WELL. Let me tell you: It was amazing!! They make the sandwiches in front of you so you know it’s fresh. The staff were all lovely and friendly too which was a big plus. The pork itself was tasty and plentiful…..too many restaurants these days skimp on the amount of meat to save money, but not Sophie’s. At only $6.95 for this huge sandwich, you really are getting your money’s worth. Mayo and onions topped off this delicious sandwich. I had to take some home as it was just too filling to finish all in one sitting. Next time I want to try the Pernil With a Twist, which has a Sophie’s ‘special green sauce’ and sweet plantains. Ahh Cuban food!
