Oxido, a modern Mexican eatery in Flatiron that focuses on high quality food made from scratch, has created 4 new bowls for its menu. Instead of the usual rice, these bowls have quinoa instead, which is higher in protein and dietary fiber, which in turn keeps you fuller for longer. Below are the 4 new bowls:
New Mexican Quinoa Bowl: Bold flavor protein driven with a sweet-heat kick. Comes with a chipotle honey lime vinaigrette.
Chicken Fajita Quinoa Bowl: A Tex-Mex inspired dish with market veggies and some crunch. Comes with a smoked tomato dressing
Ranchero Tomato Veggie Pasta Bowl (vegan): Modern-Mex twist on a veggie bounty with a bit of a kick.
Spiced Chicken Picadillo Bowl: A flavorful and spiced New Mexican smoked chicken hash dish that speaks to the palate.
I chose to get the New Mexican Quinoa Bowl, as I liked the fact that it has a sweet & spicy kick to it. The chicken was extremely tender, and I really liked the sauce. Black beans, tomato salsa, baby spinach and a scattering of cheese completed the bowl. I’m a big quinoa eater anyway, so I really enjoyed the bowl and was left feeling full and satisfied. I’m often looking for a quick, healthy meal on a busy day, and Oxido definitely fits the bill.
Oxido has been at their Flatiron location for 3 years now. They only use meat that comes from animals raised humanely and fed an all-vegetarian diet with no hormones or antibiotics. All the produce is fresh, never frozen, and the sauces are made in-house. So give the new bowls a try and see for yourself. Healthy is delicious!
