Krispy Kreme has just opened a new location in the CBD, in Chancery Square. It’s the first of its kind in the world, unlike any Krispy Kreme you’ve seen before.
I was lucky enough to attend the preview party last night and see first-hand just how much thought and work has gone into this store. Dubbed as a ‘Kaleidoscope store’, the design gives customers a sensory experience, with a ceiling of sprinkles, neon lighting and a giant pink doughnut seat.
From the outside, the store mimics the signature doughnut box, with the iconic Krispy Kreme logo and the words ‘since 1937’. It was pouring rain the night of the preview party, so unfortunately I didn’t get a photo of the outside, but I got plenty of the fantastic interior.
Christmas doughnuts are now on the menu, including ‘Snowy’ (a cute snowman filled with strawberry jam & covered in white chocolate), an M&Ms wreath doughnut, ‘Krispymas Pudding’ doughnut, and a Christmas Tree doughnut. My favourite has to be Snowy, with his little sour strap scarf.
As well as doughnuts, you can also get addictive shakes including Original Glazed, Hokey Pokey, and Kookies & Kreme. I highly recommend the hokey pokey shake if you love Crunchie Bars.
Or if you’re REALLY wanting to indulge your sweet tooth (like me), definitely get one of the sundaes: a scoop of ice cream sitting atop a doughnut. Sundaes available are Strawberry Sprinkles, Chocolate Cookie, and Caramel Crumble. And if you need something hot to wash everything down, they have their specialty Krispy Kreme coffee and a range of Harney & Sons tea (which I was very excited about as it’s my favourite tea!)
Retail manager Antonio Rivera is excited for Kiwi customers to experience the new store for themselves. He emphasised how important it is to create a team of happy employees who really love their jobs. This is turn creates a loyal customer base, and it’s something Krispy Kreme New Zealand is very proud of. Krispy Kreme opened its first New Zealand store last February in Manukau, and now has a second location at the domestic terminal at Auckland International Airport. The Chancery Square location is the third.
Well done Krispy Kreme! Your new store in Chancery Square really is a work of art.
You can bet I’ll be going back sometime soon so I can try one of the doughnut sundaes.
