If you haven’t tried the cupcakes from Two Little Red Hens yet, then you’re missing out on the best cupcakes in New York City. This is no exaggeration. I have eaten so many cupcakes here in the past 2 & a half years (when I first arrived in NYC I was literally eating one every couple of days and my too-tight jeans proved it) that you can take my word for it. Always delightfully light and fluffy and never dry, with flavors such as Boston Cream and Peanut Butter Fudge Swirl, you’ll definitely get your sugar fix as these babies are big in size as well as flavor. My new favorite flavor for summer has to be the Key Lime cupcake ($4). This cupcake is a chiffon cake, with key lime cream filling, and key lime infused whipped cream for the frosting with fresh lime zest. Tart and tangy, the Key Lime Filled Cupcake is the perfect afternoon pick-me-up. If you just want a taste and don’t feel like committing to the large size, they also do mini cupcakes in all flavors ($1.75).
