Tonight my friend and I had dessert crepes for our dinner. We had been wanting to check out Eight Turn Crepe, a creperie in SoHo for a while now and we finally got there to try it out. This is Tokyo-based Eight Turn Crepe’s first US location. The Japanese crepes are made with rice flour so are naturally gluten-free and you can choose from sweet or savory, with many of the toppings being homemade. I chose the Chocolate Nut Party crepe, which has almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts and pistachios with Il Laboratoria del Gelato vanilla gelato, Eight turned whipped yoghurt, Eight Turn custard cream and chocolate pocky sticks.

My friend got the Matcha Stripe Chocolate crepe, which has strawberries, Eight Turn chocolate sauce, Eight Turn chocolate truffles, Eight Turn matcha custard cream, Eight Turn whipped yogurt and crushed pistachios. Matcha is stone-ground green tea, which is packed with antioxidants. Yes that’s right, this dessert has health benefits! I really liked the fact that these crepes have custard cream and yogurt in place of whipped cream. They weren’t cloyingly sweet and the quality of their ingredients really shows in the flavor.
