Earthquake in a Fishbowl
If you’re in the mood for something sweet, new Upper West Side store Sugar and Plumm pretty much has it all. Whether it’s crepes you’re craving, or waffles, candy, cupcakes or ice cream, Sugar and Plumm is definitely worth going to. The space, which newly opened just last week, looks inviting and exciting, with its cute candy-like light shades and other whimsical decor. Once I heard that they offered a selection of different cakes and ice cream in a fish bowl, I was up there like a shot. The dessert is called ‘Earthquake in a Fishbowl’ and features slices of Brooklyn Blackout cake and Heaven/Hell cake, plus a slice of Key Lime Pie and a delectable Butterscotch Pudding. This is all rounded off by 3 scoops of ice cream; salted caramel, chocolate and vanilla. And don’t forget the fresh cream too! Unless you fancy putting yourself in a sugar coma, this dessert is best shared between 3 to 4 people. My only complaint is there didn’t seem to be enough chocolate. I think it needed some hot fudge sauce as well as the small drizzling of chocolate on top to take it to the next level. I can’t wait to go back and try the Crackling Baked Alaska with Cashew Nuts. Oh yeah, they also do a Waffles and Bacon milkshake. Not so sure I’ll be trying that though!
My apologies for the dismal quality of the photos. This visit was completely spur-of-the-moment so all I had was my phone camera.
