If you’re a lover of peanut butter then get yourself down to Levain Bakery as soon as you can! Their dark chocolate peanut butter cookie ($4) is to die for; crammed with peanut butter chips and made with extra dark French cocoa. And just look at the size of this cookie. It’s definitely not for the faint-hearted, weighing in at 6 ounces. I’ve been going to Levain on the Upper West Side for around 2 years now, and their other cookie standout is the chocolate chip walnut. So much chocolate! If you’re lucky the cookie will still be warm, so it can literally melt in your mouth.
Levain is also known for it’s delicious breads, including raisin-walnut whole wheat and chocolate chip brioche. You know the bread and cookies are always fresh as Levain donates any leftovers at the end of each day to the needy.
