It took me a solid few minutes to decide which treat to purchase from Maison Kayser. Known as one of France’s best bakers, Eric Kayser has over 80 locations of his patiserrie/boulangerie/cafe around the world. I feel privileged to be able to sample some of his creations with three of them now in New York City. I decided to try the ‘Adagio’ ($6), which consists of a thin layer of chocolate cake on the bottom, followed by chocolate mousse and a passion fruit filling, covered with a chocolate ganache. The top is adorned with a mini macaron and the signature Eric Kayser monogrammed chocolate. The mousse was smooth and not too sweet, with the passion fruit’s slight tartness being the star of the show. The flavors went so well together I found myself eating it rather too quickly. I’ll be back to try the croissants and the bread Eric is so famous for when my tooth is not quite so sweet.

Yes I tried the same chocolate dessert on 42nd Street. It’s so rich, creamy and delightful! What else is your favorite in Maison Kayser?
