If you love key lime as much as I do, then you should definitely get one (or two!) of Dominique Ansel’s famous Cronuts this August. Filled with key lime ganache and dulce de leche ganache, this cronut is intense! This is literally a pairing of two of my favourite flavours ever, so I couldn’t miss getting some.
Back in the early days of the Cronut (well even after the first year), you had to get there before opening and line up in order to secure your cronut. Now, it’s more relaxed, and I managed to score two at the leisurely hour of 11am. And the best thing was, I didn’t wait any more than 5 minutes in line. NYC is notorious for lines, especially when a hot new menu item comes out. So to get my cronuts so quickly, was a delight.
There is a nice garden with some tables at the back of the bakery, which was empty today in the 32 C heat (90 F). I was the only one who braved the heat so I could get some nice photos with natural light. The things we do for the best photo! Yes I was sweating a bit as I did my cronut photoshoot, but the taste and texture of this masterpiece made it worth it. I loved the sweetness of the caramel, with the tartness & tanginess of the lime. Chef Ansel has made another winning combination. Get yours for the month of August.
