This is a sushi restaurant in Williamsburg that you can spot from half a mile away. The glowing red lights inform you that you’re at the right place and you might wonder if you’ve arrived at a club or a restaurant. Inside, the interior is beautifully decorated with purples and reds, and the bathroom is not to be missed. But let’s get to the food. This may well be the best sushi I’ve tasted. And I’ve had a lot of sushi in my life. My only gripe would be that the sushi is on the smaller side, so you will need to order something else as well as a roll to be full. But that worked out just fine for me, considering I’d eyed previously that they have a tempura ice cream on their menu so I already knew I better have room for this.
I ordered the ‘Out of Control’ signature roll ($14.50), which features yellowtail, tuna, salmon and asparagus, topped with seared yellowtail, salmon and tuna spicy miso, saikyo miso, eel sauce and crispy rice pearls. Be prepared to put a piece of this sushi in your mouth and be amazed at the wonderful flavors popping in your mouth. The friends I went with were equally surprised at just how good it tasted, so fresh and melt-in-your-mouth. The crispy rice pearls definitely added a fabulous crunch and the miso sauces combined with the eel sauce dressed the fish up perfectly.
The tempura ice cream ($6) wrapped with butter loaf cake and topped with chocolate sauce and cream wasn’t as much of a shining star as the sushi, but it still made a tasty end to the meal, and I left full.
I will definitely be back to try their other rolls.
